Replaying ghost files is something that is useful for both time trialers and modders.

Setting up the Programs

The programs Dolphin Lua Core and MKDD Ghost Info by SwareJonge are needed.

  1. Download and unpack both of the programs.
  2. Copy the Sys folder and the MKDD_Ghost_Info.exe file from MKDD Ghost Info into the same directory as the Dolphin.exe from Dolphin Lua Core.

Dumping / Loading Ghost Information

  1. Open MKDD_Ghost_Info.exe. Open your .ght / .gci file.
  2. The ghost information will be displayed and dumped for replay use.

Playing the Ghost in Dolphin Lua Core

  1. Make sure that the first player controller input to set to keyboard. This version of Dolphin will use the same configuration the other versions, so it might have to be changed back. This is to prevent desyncs when the gameplay starts.
  2. In Dolphin, go to Tools -> Execute Script and choose "mkdd_input_reader.lua" in the launch script pop up. Do not run it yet.
  3. Play the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! .iso. If you get an error message, hit okay.
  4. Select the same kart and the same course as the ghost.
  5. After you select the course but before the timer starts, hit the "Start" button on the launch script pop up.
  6. The ghost should run on its own.

Dealing with Desyncs

There are several reasons why a ghost may desync

  • Controller inputs
    • Having a real controller plugged in can cause minor errors with the controller calibration, which, while minor, over the course of a long time, can cause major errors.
  • Gameplay changes
    • Replaying a ghost with a different kart or with a different course (however slight the changes may be) can cause desyncs.
